Laura Piel, President and Owner

Laura Piel graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton , New York in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Urban Studies and Political Philosophy. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and a Phi Beta Kappa having completed an Honors Thesis at St. Lawrence University. Earlier educational experiences included study within the Honors College of Chris t College at Valparaiso University and participation in the Urban Studies Program through the Associated Colleges of the Midwest . While in the Urban Studies program Laura worked with the Chicago Legal Aid Foundation in Chicago , Illinois . Laura supported herself in college through work as a resident assistant.

Laura started a management career in hospitality in Lake Placid , New York while still a college student. Later she joined the Marketing Division of the Olympic Organizing Committee for the XXIII Winter Olympic Games assigned to implement a Ticket/Tour Sales Program negotiating ticket sales and operations for ticket production, security, and distribution. Following the close of the Olympic Games, she moved to Phoenix , AZ working as a manager for Radisson and Marriott Hotels.

Laura began her career in search and placement following the birth of her first child in 1983 with acceptance of a position with Staff One. She managed staffing firms in Phoenix and opened her own company, Renaissance Personnel Group in 1994. Her career has revolved around placing people in administrative and front line management positions in Phoenix businesses. Renaissance Personnel is home to ten recruiting professionals on a staff of 13, all dedicated to providing the great customer service Renaissance is known for.

Laura founded her company on the principle of Integrity in Personnel Placement. Renaissance's vision statement today dedicates it's staff to Building Careers and Companies – Serving all with Integrity, Expertise & Respect.

Laura obtained certification as a Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) in 1987 and as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) in 1999. She is an active member of the Valley of the Sun Human Resource Association and has served as a Board Member and on the Community Involvement Committee. She is currently Co-Chair for the Fresh Start Women's Foundation's Second Annual Community Breakfast and is past Chair of the Fresh Start Women's Foundation's Auxiliary Board.

Laura and her husband David reside in Scottsdale, Arizona. Their daughter, Lauren has completed her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at Chapman University and joined her mother in the business. Their son, Christopher, graduated from Brophy last year and is attending the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University.
